Sometimes the best love stories begin when you least expect them.

In the summer of 2022, our paths crossed at a friend’s son’s birthday party. Brandon noticed Damita talking with one of his family members. Not recognizing her, he walked over, introduced himself, and struck up a conversation.

Later that same day, Brandon accompanied his family member to Damita’s home to discuss a basement renovation project. It was there that something changed. As they talked, they locked eyes, and both felt an undeniable connection. Damita would later call her friend—the host of the birthday party—and ask everything she could about Brandon. She couldn’t quite explain it, except to say, “It felt like he was looking straight through my soul.”

What neither of them realized was that this wouldn’t be their last meeting.

Brandon and his family were hired to complete Damita’s basement renovation, creating a full apartment where her parents could one day retire and live with her. Over the next six months, what began as casual conversations slowly grew into a meaningful friendship. After long days at work, Damita would often head downstairs to check on the project’s progress, spending time talking and laughing with Brandon and the crew.

Somewhere along the way, they began sharing what they jokingly called their “therapeutic hugs.” What started as a lighthearted joke soon became something Brandon looked forward to more than he’d ever admit.

As the months passed, Brandon had the opportunity to see who Damita truly was—not only as a hardworking professional, but as a devoted mother to her children and a loving daughter to her parents. Watching her love and care for the people around her made one thing abundantly clear to him: she was the woman he wanted to spend the rest of his life with.

From that moment on, Brandon intentionally pursued Damita’s heart.

On March 14, 2026, during a trip to the breathtaking mountains of Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, Brandon asked Damita to marry him. Surrounded by God’s beautiful creation, with one unforgettable question, they began the next chapter of their story.

Now, surrounded by the people we love most, we can’t wait to celebrate the beginning of our forever.
